Joan H. (Gilliam) Lawson

Joan Harriet (Gilliam) Lawson was born on November 7, 1952 in Newark NJ to the late Henry (Butchie)Johnson and the late Orrie Gilliam. She was a life long resident of Passaic NJ where she married Lonnie J. Lawson & raised their 2 children. After her courageous battle with cancer she went home to be with the lord on October 18, 2021 She attended & graduated from Passaic High School 1969. Joan was employed by Royal Silk of Clifton, NJ for 7 years. She was always employed by the Fair Department store of Downtown Passaic, NJ for 10 years. Later employed by Home Depot of Passaic, NJ for over 20 years. Joan adored spending time with family & friends. One of her favorite hobbies was to play bingo & of course winning the jackpot was a bonus. Joan enjoyed listening to some of her favorite R&B artist such as Stephanie Mills, Maxwell, & Teddy Pendergrass just to name a few. Aside from her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her older sister Vivian Joseph & her younger brother Reginald Gilliam. Joan leaves to cherish her precious memories, One son Maurice T. Lawson & one daughter Crystal S. Lawson. Two Grandchildren Farry E. Shennett Jr. & Aniesha S. Shennett. One granddaughter in-law Garnetta K. Shennett. Two Great Grandchildren Zuhkai N. Shennett & Gia Jessie D. Shennett. One sister Avaughn S. Hamrick-Wilson. Four nephews, Rayvon Lydal Wilson, Ernest Dejuan Wilson, Kasson Gilliam & Jamaas Burley. Five nieces, Tasha Smith, Tonya Jeter, Sharmin Joseph, Monique Gilliam, & Alynkka Faison. She also leaves to cherish her memories her special friends Barbara Johnson, Sarah Thomas, Sue Sams, Barbara Curtis, Ellen Glassman & Linda Martinez.
