The funeral may also continue to be viewed after the service.</h2> <h2>George Oliver Hand, 82 years of age, of Hudson, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.</h2> <h2>George was born October 29, 1938 in Akron, Ohio the son of George F. and Esther A. (Round) Hand.&nbsp; He was born several minutes after his twin brother Parker (Barbara).&nbsp; George was preceded in death by his sister Mary and brother Lee.</h2> <h2>Besides his brother he is survived by the love of his life, his wife Merva; their 3 sons, Daniel C Hand of&nbsp;Pennsylvania, Jonathan H (Sarah) Hand of&nbsp;Illinois, and David G. (Candice) Hand of&nbsp;Illinois; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Abigail, Kayley, Adalynn, and Ava; his beloved dog Coco; and numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.</h2> <h2>On September 18, 1957, George enlisted into the United States Navy where he served his country in the United States Navy Band playing the french horn.&nbsp; George attended the School of Music, Washington D.C. from 01/27/1958 - 09/03/1958.&nbsp; He was honored with the Good Conduct Medal.&nbsp; On September 15, 1961, George was honorably discharged from the Naval Administrative Command, San Diego, California.</h2> <h2>On December&nbsp;20, 1965, George worked for the Chicago Transit Authority where he had 35 years of dedicated service.&nbsp; George made sure to let everyone know, &quot;I did it all&quot;, drove a bus, bus supervisor, operated trains, switchman, bus controller, rail controller, power controller, Manager and later General Manager of Communications/Power Control.</h2> <h2>(Ask other people, other jobs he held.&nbsp; I know dad always was proud of all he accomplished at CTA)</h2> <h2>He was a member of Masonic Lodge (Westchester, Illinois) #995 A.F. &amp; A.M. and the National Rifle Association.</h2> <h2>George retired January 1, 2001 and moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 2004 where he enjoyed traveling with his wife Merva, playing his beloved french horn in several different orchestras and church groups, loved horseshoes, a great game of bocce, fixing computers, and his Green Bay Packers.</h2> <h2>Services will be held at Hopler &amp; Eschbach Funeral Home Tuesday, October 26, at 11 am burial will follow at Spring Forest Cemetery. A visitation at the funeral home will be from 10-10:50. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to charities to help fight macular degeneration.</h2>

George Oliver Hand, 82 years of age, of Hudson, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

George was born October 29, 1938 in Akron, Ohio the son of George F. and Esther A. (Round) Hand.  He was born several minutes after his twin brother Parker (Barbara).  George was preceded in death by his sister Mary and brother Lee.

Besides his brother he is survived by the love of his life, his wife Merva; their 3 sons, Daniel C Hand of Pennsylvania, Jonathan H (Sarah) Hand of Illinois, and David G. (Candice) Hand of Illinois; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Abigail, Kayley, Adalynn, and Ava; his beloved dog Coco; and numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.

On December 20, 1965, George worked for the Chicago Transit Authority where he had 35 years of dedicated service.  George made sure to let everyone know, "I did it all", drove a bus, bus supervisor, operated trains, switchman, bus controller, rail controller, power controller, Manager and later General Manager of Communications/Power Control.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge (Westchester, Illinois) #995 A.F. & A.M. and the National Rifle Association.

George retired January 1, 2001 and moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 2004 where he enjoyed traveling with his wife Merva, playing his beloved french horn in several different orchestras and church groups, loved horseshoes, a great game of bocce, fixing computers, and his Green Bay Packers.

Services will be held at Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home Tuesday, October 26, at 11 am burial will follow at Spring Forest Cemetery. A visitation at the funeral home will be from 10-10:50. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to charities to help fight macular degeneration.
