Eleanor Lawrence Slaugh passed away on October 8, 2021, at age 76, at her home in Sunnyvale, California, after completing her fight with Lewy body dementia (Parkinson's dementia). Eleanor was born to Robert Allen Lawrence and Evelyn Smith on April 16, 1945, in St. George, Utah, and later lived in many locations in California and Utah, before finally settling in Sunnyvale, California. She was the oldest of eight children. Her siblings are Beatrice, David, Beulah, Janet, Athelia, Kathryn, and Sylvia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beatrice, and by her husband, Reed Slaugh. She married Reed Slaugh in the Logan Utah Temple on June 3, 1966. They had 7 children: Adrienne Slaugh of California, Sherise (David) Penry of Arizona, Natalie Slaugh of California, Cindy (Dave) Zimbauer of California, Ben Slaugh of Utah, Alan (Erica) Slaugh of California, and April Slaugh of California. There are 11 grandchildren that are part of their posterity: Ryan, Brook, Cambria, Danielle, Owen, Capri, Hayden, Chase, Riley, Cooper, and Cannon. Eleanor received a BA degree from Utah State University. She taught high school English and French before starting her family. Eleanor enjoyed traveling with Reed on many of his work trips. His work brought them the choice experience to move to Israel for 2 years with their two youngest children. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved volunteering in her later years at the Oakland California Temple with her dear husband, Reed. Eleanor was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved her Savior and truly followed His example of tending to the one. She welcomed newcomers and made them feel comfortable. She was a wonderful listener. She loved to teach children, whether at her church’s Primary program or through the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. She showed by example how to serve others, especially making sure they had shoes and warm clothes. She loved mothering the young sister missionaries who were serving in our area.
