Carol L. Brown, age 70, died in her home in New Castle, DE in the early hours of October 18, 2021, surrounded by her children. She was a 1969 graduate of William Penn High School and later worked at the New Castle County Library driving the bookmobile, sold Tupperware and luggage, and of course raised her kids and took care of the household. She retired from Walgreens (previously Happy Harry’s) after 25+ years, having started as a cashier, earning a pharmacy technician certification, and being promoted to store manager.

Carol enjoyed listening to music, tending her house plants, quiet time sitting on the porch, drives to the beach, flower arranging, and watching movies. She will be greatly missed for her quiet strength, reliability, persistence, and her deep concern for others. 

Ms. Brown is survived by her daughter, Dascha Bright of Seattle, WA, and her son, David Brown of Newark, DE. She is also survived by her brother Curt Ryan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved cat Blinky, her parents Charles and Marion Ryan, and her brother Bob Ryan.

A visitation will be held at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10:00am, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00am.  Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
