Alvie Thomas McKay, 79, of Chelsea, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021. Tom was born Sunday, July 26, 1942, to Alvie and Susie (Fry) McKay, in Checotah, Oklahoma. He grew up in Pierce, and attended Pierce Schools. He began working on the family farm at a young age. Tom married the love of his life Trudi Norman on Monday, December, 18, 1961 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He worked highway construction for some time, but mainly he ranched. His specialty was being a great neighbor and was always willing to help them out. In his younger years he was a skilled “disciplinary technician”. Tom enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, riding horses and noodling and raising cattle. He was also a fine wood craftsman. Tom loved his grandchildren and loved to spoil them. Tom will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents; Dad, L. Spirlock; Mother, Susie Spirlock; brothers, Dale McKay and Gary McKay. Tom is loving survived by his wife Trudi McKay of the home; sons Michael Thomas McKay and wife LaDonna of Eufaula; Anthony Thomas McKay and wife Pam of Pensacola; Bradley Vance Thomas McKay of Chelsea; Gregory Shawn Thomas McKay and wife Rachel of Checotah; grandchildren, Jody Michele McKay and husband Eric Donoley of Red Oak; Timothy Daniel McKay and wife Anna, of Sapulpa; Benjamin Thomas McKay of Washington, Pennsylvania; Samuel Andrew McKay of Tulsa; Heather Mynatt of Tulsa; Brandon Lee Long of Okemah; Jeffery Allen McKay of Checotah; Chase Wayne Vaughan of Tulsa; Kristina Kay Cox and husband Jerry of Salem; Jessica Lynn Martin and husband Steven of Eufaula; Mason McRay Gawf, Salem; Seana Baker and husband Jonah, Okemah; Michaela Moorehead of Okemah; Koltyn Moorehead, Okema; Brothers Steve McKay and wife Jody of Beaver, Pennsylvania; Donnie McKay and wife Joyce of Henryetta; Wayne McKay and wife Sherri, of Seven Points, Texas; Sam Spirlock of Checotah; Curt Spirlock and wife Mary, of Checotah. Sisters Nora McNatt of Chandler, Arizona; Vernia McIntosh of Tulsa; Paula Killingsworth and husband Bunny of Checotah; Treva Treesh and husband Danny of Shawnee; Dwanna McKay of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by lots of other extended family and a lifetime of friends. Graveside service for Tom, is at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Pierce Cemetery in Checotah. Tim McKay, Ben McKay, Sam McKay, Mason Gawf, Robert Prater, and Dan Prater will serve as Casket Bearers. Butch Norman, Ron Parker, James Freeman, Richard Nelson, Sonny Been and Lynn Kaler will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers. On Saturday, October 23, 2021, the family will host a memorial dinner for Tom at Tom and Trudi’s residence at 25533 S 4260 Road, Chelsea, OK 74016.
