Allen Robert Philippe

Allen R. Philippe of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by his family at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake. He was 84 years old. Born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Robert R. and Mary Alice (Allen) Philippe. He was the father of Pamela Gill (Lee), John Philippe and Scott Philippe, loving grandfather to Brenna Logsdon (Travis), Tristan Miller (Brent), Emalee Kurtz (Jacob), Zachary Philippe (Kelly), Christopher Philippe (Kayla) and Brett Philippe, great-grandfather to Mason, Alice, Lucas, Dylan, Max and Myles. He was the brother of Sharon Philippe and the late Cathy Hartness. Mr. Philippe was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received his degree in Civil Engineering and eventually finished a master’s degree for Engineering. Mr. Philippe was the owner of Windward Associates and was a member of the Aberdeen Rotary, served on the Board of Harford Bank, Planning and Zoning for Aberdeen and Havre de Grace. He also incredibly involved with the committee/founders for the Upper Chesapeake Hospice Regatta. Mr. Philippe was an avid boater and loved spending his time sailing. He participated for many years in the Thursday night sailing races on the Susquehanna River in Havre de Grace. He sailed in many races with friends including the Annapolis-to-Newport race. Mr. Philippe held his pilots license for many years, flying Cessna planes or single engines and even taught his children some basic flying skills. In his early years he was a coxswain on his high school and college rowing teams, which showed his love for the water even then. He was known to be a quiet man, however found most peace on his boat. We really enjoyed having Allen as our neighbor. When we moved next door to Allen in 2013 he was so nice. We enjoyed talking to him. We will really miss him. Sincerely Roger, Kathleen and Stephanie Lee
