Betty A. Swanger Obituary

Betty Swanger, age 92, passed away in her home in Milroy, Pa. on October 16, 2021. Betty was born to Frederick and Erma Flood in Nook, Pa. on September 13, 1929. She was raised on Spruce St., in Lewistown, Pa. along with her three brothers, Richard Charles, Frederick James and George Edgar. Betty met and fell in love with William “Bill” Swanger in 1947 and they were married in1948. Shortly thereafter, Betty became a military wife as Bill began his career in the US Army. Betty joined Bill at various deployments both domestically and abroad. Betty was his supportive partner who took pride in her homemaking responsibilities and raising her two children Thomas William and Deborah Irene. During her travels as a military wife, Betty had made countless friends and enduring memories. She returned to her roots and relocated from Baltimore, MD to Milroy in 1979. She was an avid antique shopper and loved to read romance novels. She took pride in her four grandsons and grand-daughter and most recently she was delighted to welcome two great grandsons into the family.

Betty was preceded in death by: her husband Bill, Oct. 21, 2001; and her brother George Edgar Flood.  She is survived by: her two children Thomas and Deborah; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and brothers, Richard C. Flood and Frederick J. Flood.

There will be a viewing Wednesday 6-8 p.m., Oct. 20, 2021, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Donna Christopher officiating.
