It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Nora Matthews announces her passing. Nora passed peacefully away at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at the age of 85 years.

Nora is predeceased by her husband – Lawrence Matthews; three infant children; children – Anthony Matthews, Bernard Matthews, Lawrence Matthews Jr. & Viola Matthews; son-in-law – Ignatius Matthews; grandchildren – Corey Matthews & Adam Matthews; great-grandchild – Devlin Matthews; parents – Michael & Bernetta Payne; siblings – Bridget Giles (James), Margaret Giles (Lester), Ann Drover (Cyril), John Payne (Josephine), Lawrence Payne, Art Payne, Ralph Payne & Tom Payne; parents-in-law – William & Gertrude Matthews; siblings-in-law – Elizabeth Sullivan (Raymond), Vincent Haas & Patrick Seymour.

Left with fond and loving memories is children – Gerald Matthews (Leonie), Harbour Round, NL, Rose Matthews, Brent’s Cove, NL, Aloysius Matthews, Harbour Round, NL, Patrick Matthews (Ann), Harbour Round, NL, Loyola Matthews (Cordella), Harbour Round, NL, Bernadette O’Driscoll (Michael), Fort McMurray, AB, Michael Matthews (Betty-Lou), Harbour Round, NL, Barry Matthews (Carmelita), Harbour Round, NL & Stephen Matthews (Leeann), La Scie, NL; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings – Josephine Seymour & Lucy Haas; siblings-in-law – Olivera Giles (Robert), Irene Payne-Skinner (Gerard), Genevieve Payne, Agnes Payne & Ann Payne (Gregory), along with a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Public Visitation took place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Sunday, October 17th from 4:00-10:00PM.

Father Camillus Ekebobe conducted a Private Family Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Monday, October 18th, 2021. Interment followed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Round on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021.
