<p>Robert Day Whipple, 70, &ldquo;Waabashkimi-gizii&rdquo; which means &ldquo;White Eagle&rdquo; of Cass Lake, Minnesota began his spiritual journey on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN.&nbsp; Robert was born in Cass Lake, MN on April 6, 1951, to George Whipple and Margaret Day.</p> <p>Robert enjoyed attending and dancing at powwows.&nbsp; He attended college and earned his degree in English and spoke fluent Ojibwe and Russian. &nbsp;Robert was the type of man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.&nbsp; He worked for Little Six, Inc. in the human resources division before moving to the homeland to work as the Human Resources Director.&nbsp; Robert traveled a lot, not just for his work but for his own enjoyment as well.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army honorably, Robert is a brother in arms and a brother for life.</p> <p>Family that welcomes Robert to the spirit world are his parents; Margaret and George, brothers; Bill, Jimmy, Chuck and George, grandparents, nieces; Geraldine and Heather, nephew; &ldquo;Punky&rdquo; Douglas Whipple, sister in-law; Josie Whitefeather and several other family members.</p> <p>He leaves behind his only child; Elliott Whipple of Cass Lake, brothers; John Whipple of Walnut Grove and Spencer Whitefeather of Guthrie, sister; Irene McNeil of Red Lake, grandchild; Kayl Harper, great grandchild; Christopher Harper, aunt; Mary Ann Cross, many nieces and nephews, numerous other relatives and friends.</p> <p>Wake services for Robert will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16th and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional services on Monday, October 18th all being held at the Veteran&rsquo;s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.&nbsp; Waa-maajaa&rsquo;iwed is Steve Jackson.&nbsp; Pallbearers will be Dave Paquette, Eric Whitefeather, Steve Frazer, Sewell Keezer Dow, Aaron Jones, and Jed Dow.&nbsp; His honorary pallbearers are all his family, friends and co-workers from HR.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Leech Lake Veteran&rsquo;s Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN.</p> <p>Robert&rsquo;s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN.&nbsp; Online condolences for the family may be left at www.northernpeace.com</p>

Robert Day Whipple, 70, “Waabashkimi-gizii” which means “White Eagle” of Cass Lake, Minnesota began his spiritual journey on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN.  Robert was born in Cass Lake, MN on April 6, 1951, to George Whipple and Margaret Day.
