Dover – Arthur R. Tobin “Art”, 76, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. The son of the late Arthur and Signe Tobin, Art was born on April 11, 1945, in Springfield, MA. Following graduation from Manchester Central High School, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1967. Art worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. In 1967, Art began his service in the United States Army. He was a combat engineer, First Lieutenant, in Vietnam and served in the reserves, rising to the rank of Major. Art was a loving husband and father who absolutely adored his grandsons. He was a lifelong Boston sports fan and also followed UNH and the University of Michigan teams. Art is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy Tobin; son, Arthur R. Tobin III “Art” and his wife, Dawn, of Portsmouth, NH; daughter, Heather Porter, and her partner, Rod Silverwood, of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Michael Porter, Jr., Ryan Tobin, and John Tobin; sisters, Margaret Singer (Carl), of Greencastle, IN, and Patricia Tobin, also of Greencastle, IN; brother-in-law, Michael Luczko; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation for Art will be from 4 PM – 7 PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church, 150 Central Ave in Dover with a burial to follow at 11:30 AM on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy in Boscawen. The Mass of Christian Burial can be streamed online at https://c.streamhoster.com/embed/media/WEsdvd/PEo18T9smRr/vjb9ZtsAUEL_5.
