Joan N. Melaragno

Joan N. (Clarke) Melaragno, passed away in her 90th year, Wednesday, October 13, 2021. She was the wife of the late Pasquale E. Melaragno. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edward O.A. and Edith G. (Nielson) Clarke. Joan graduated in 1953 from the Roger Williams School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Roger Williams Hospital from 1953-1960, Lying-In Hospital special care nursery 1960-1974, Cranston General Hospital 1974-1984 and finished her career at the VNA of RI from 1984-1996. She lived in Providence, before moving to North Scituate in 1990. Joan was a member and Sunday school teacher at the former Church of the Messiah. She also served on the church Vestry, helped in the food kitchen and was a licensed Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in North Scituate, was a member of the alter guild and volunteered in the Thrift Shop. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, feeding the wild birds, and of course cheering on the Red Sox. Joan was the loving mother of Steven M. Melaragno and his wife Patricia, Paul C. Melaragno and his wife Susan, Robert A. Melaragno and his wife Renee and Susan M. Chabot, MD and her husband Stephen Chabot, MD. She was the sister of Edward N. Clarke and his wife Vivian, Carolyn V. Hopkins and her husband Stanley and the late George S. Clarke and his late wife Fran. She was the grandmother of Heather, Aaron, Erin, Matthew, Emily, Connor, Nicholas, Eric, Samantha Sarah and Zoey. She was the great-grandmother of Madison, Sophie and Shiloh. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 10am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Pike, Greenville, with a Funeral Service at 11am in Trinity Episcopal Church, Danielson Pike, N.Scituate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. Visitation, Monday October 18, 2021 from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Episcopal Church, 251 Danielson Pike, N. Scituate, RI 02857 would be appreciated.
