TSgt William "Bill" Hagerty, USAF, Retired, 89, of Newport, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

His memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Munden Funeral Home. Following the service, the family invites you to join them at the Clubhouse at The Coves of Newport.  For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. William, or Bill as known by most, was born on August 12, 1932, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he retired as an E6.  Serving as a crewman on B-52 planes in Korea then Vietnam, his task of tail gunner was to defend against enemy fire and intercept attacks from the rear of the plane. He also served as a boom operator in a KC97, refueling aircrafts in flight. His heroic efforts earned him numerous medals for his valiant achievements.

Bill was blessed with 71 years of marriage to the love of his life, Ardyth. He was a family man, who would do anything for his wife, friends, and family.

He is survived by his wife, Ardyth Hagerty; daughter, Lynett S. Koetz of Montana; sons, William G. Hagerty of Alaska and Steve. D. Hagerty and wife Teresa of Emerald Isle, NC; sisters, Mary of Connecticut and Marilynn of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Lee Dubay.
