Mildred Pauline “Polly” Suggs Barnes, 94, of New Haven, CT entered eternal rest on Friday, October 8, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Pinkney Suggs and Mabel Ennis Suggs and was born in Snow Hill, NC on June 13, 1928. Polly attended and graduated from the Skill Center for Nursing and worked as a surgical tech at St. Raphael’s Hospital for many years. She was a member and Mother of Christ Chapel Church for many years. Polly had a love of music, she self-taught herself to play the organ. Polly loved to dance and cook Sunday dinners for her family. She is survived by her sister, Mabel Louise Carmon of Virginia and her children, Melvin (the late Judy) Suggs of Maryland, Joe Suggs (Bobbie) of NC, Burnis (the late Edna) Barnes, James Barnes, Linwood (Sheryl) Barnes, Clinton (Sarah) Barnes of NC, and Peggie Barnes. She was predeceased by son, David Barnes, brothers, Willie James, Pinkney, Burnis, David and sisters, Helen, Ethel and Edie and first-born grandchild Troy Barnes. She leaves a host of family and friends to cherish shared memories.
