Emily Margaret Saager

MOUNT HOREB - Emily Margaret (Willey) Saager passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. She was born on Aug. 23, 1929, to Herman and Emilie (Kuball) Willey. Emily was united in marriage to Donald Alfred Saager on June 27, 1953, in Prairie du Sac. He preceded her in death in 2006. Emily worked at EVCO Plastics in DeForest until her retirement in 1989. Emily and Don then moved to their cabin in Hazelhurst. After Don’s passing in 2006, Emily moved to Lincoln Court Apartments in Mount Horeb, enjoying making new friends. She fondly recalled her travels with her sisters. Mom loved the holidays and gathering with family. She always baked a variety of Christmas cookies and will especially be remembered for her gingerbread men with cinnamon candies. Emily is survived by her daughters, Terry (Richard) Lauber of Mount Horeb, Judy (Gene) Lauber of Mount Horeb, Patty (Steven Cripps) Gruber of Sun Prairie and Laurie (James) Stacy of McFarland; grandchildren, Katie (John) Piller, Mandy (Tip) Pom, Sarah (Adam) Roth, Andrew Lauber (Marlo), Bruce Lauber (Nichole), Dana Gruber and Brittany Gruber (Bo Cox); great-grandchildren, Christine and Leah Piller, Alana and Caiden Pom, and Blake, Sawyer and Alivia Roth; sisters, Carolyn (Bob) Zellner and Joan Paar; sister-in-law, Nancy Willey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Pamela Jean Lauber; sister, Betty (Bob) Ott; brothers, LeRoy, Harland (Mary), Verlyn (Maxine) and Donald; and brother-in-law, Virgil Paar. A funeral service will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, with the Rev. Katya Ouchakof presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
