Kathy S. (Schmitz) Nicholson

Kathy S. (Schmitz) Nicholson, 55, died Thursday of COVID. Born in Alliance, she lived in Canton most of her life. She was a 1984 graduate of Southeast High School, the Aultman School of Nursing, earned a Bachelor and Masters in Nursing from Kent State University, worked at Fortis College and was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. Survived by her husband, Tim Nicholson, parents, James and Lela Schmitz, sisters, Pamela Dray and Cheryl (Timothy) O’Connor and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2-3 p.m. at the Canton Baptist Temple followed by a service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jake Tovissi officiating. Private burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canton Baptist Temple.

I just found out by accident of Kathy’s death today from hers and Tim’s neighbor. Tim I am so very sorry for your loss! Praying for yours and Kathy’s parents and siblings comfort and peace.

I am grieved to learn of Kathy’s passing. As a former student of mine, I have known Kathy as a dedicated nurse, a devoted nursing instructor, a respected colleague, and a cherished friend. My sincere condolences to Kathy’s family, friends and colleagues.
