Floretta Helen Dula

Floretta Helen Dula was born on November 9, 1928 in Rhodhiss, North Carolina to Sam Howard and Hazelene Howard. She attended school at Freedman High School in Lenoir, NC. She also attended Cosmetology School. Floretta married her childhood sweetheart Nathaniel Dula of Harpertown in 1953. They had 3 children, Ronald Dula, Camilla Dula-Gittens and Nathaniel, Jr., who is deceased. They moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she became involved in community services. She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 20 years. She was also active in many organizations in the Postal Service. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. Upon retirement in 1990, she returned to Granite falls and spent the rest of her life serving the Granite falls Community. She worshipped and served at Burgess Chapel in various areas of the Ministry until 2016. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Club, The Eastern Star \and The Birthday Club. She leaves to celebrate her life, her dedicated and loyal son, Ronald Lewis Dula and a loving daughter--in-Law, Renee Reid-Dula, a loving daughter, Pastor Camilla Dula Gittens, 2 Grandsons, Claudie Williams, Nathan Dula, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Elijah Claudie, Jr., Imani, Amiayah, and 1 great-Great Granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews. She sowed into the lives of many peoples. She will truly be missed. But, the world is a better place, because she was here. Graveside Services for Floretta Helen Dula will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Hills in Granite Falls, NC The family will receive friends Friday October 15, 2021 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service Serving as Pallbearers will be Claudie Williams, W.P. Johnson, Henry Glass, Chris Howard and Ernest Howard, Jr.
