Ruth Doris Firstmeyer-Barney, 95, died at home on October 12, 2021 surrounded by her family. Ruth was born in Paterson, NJ. She married Walter Firstmeyer after he completed his service with the United State Navy and together, they raised their 5 children in Clifton, NJ. Ruth was a lifetime member of the Pompton Lakes Elks. After her husband’s passing, she married Howard Barney in Whiting, NJ and later moved to Boca Raton, FL, before moving to Toms River, NJ. She is preceded by her husbands’ Walter Firstmeyer and Howard Barney, and her brothers and sisters. Ruth is survived by her children, Sharon Czarnecki of Toms River, NJ, Richard Firstmeyer of Clifton, NJ, Kathy Firstmeyer-Rejent of Ringwood, NJ, Walter Firstmeyer of Lake Worth, FL, and MaryBeth Firstmeyer-Interlandi of Boca Raton, FL. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Colleen, Michele, Lisa, Peter, Janice, Kevin, Brian, Geoffrey, Courtney, Christopher, and Adam; 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm, at the B/G William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, family asks donations be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Home Care and Hospice.Obituary
