Candelario “Ray” Torres Obituary

Candelario “Ray” Torres, age 86, of Rio Communities, New Mexico, entered into rest on October 12, 2021. Candelario was born to Juan and Anna Torres in Mountainair, New Mexico and remained there until he graduated from Mountainair Highschool. After Highschool, he went on to earn a degree from the National University of San Diego, California. After his academic achievements, Ray joined the Navy and proudly served for 24 years and even received a medal for “Leadership Achievement” from the secretary of the Navy. Retiring in 1979, he took no time off and began work for General Electric. After 16 years of dedicated time, he retired once more. After years of hard work and travel, Ray went back to his roots and settled in New Mexico, turning in his work boots for golf clubs. Over the next years, he taught his grandchildren the sport that he loved the most. He did quit the job in doing so as his grandchildren went on to become professionals! Candelario is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Torres; his parents; eight brothers; and two sisters. Candelario is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Esperanza “Dolly” Torres; daughter, Donna Estrada; his two grandchildren, Alex Estrada and Arrianna Estrada and his brother, Jose Torres. Candelario will be dearly missed by those whose lives he touched.  Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com.
