Lewis "LT" Thompson was born March 29, 1956, in Lafayette County, MS to the late James and Susie Hewlett Thompson.

Lewis accepted Christ at an early age and united with Springhill M. B. Church where he served on the Board of Trustees as well as a handyman. He remained a member until his untimely death.

Lewis attended the Lafayette County Schools as well as the Oxford City Schools. After completion; he sharpened his carpentry skills while working with his grandfather and uncles, and for many years made a living with his hands.  He later enrolled in a vocational school and received his CDL and after working with others, he decided it was time to become an owner/operator and he worked diligently and proudly until his death.

On Friday, October 8, 2021, Lewis peacefully passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Shawn (Ann) Pettis of Abbeville, MS, Kimberly (Torrey) Pettis-Wadley of Oxford, MS, Valorri Charae Jones of Atlanta, GA and Darrius Liggins of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Jenica Toles, Porshia Myers, LaShawnda Pettis & Shawn Pettis, Jr. all of Abbeville, MS and Shan'Quita "Sway" Jones of Atlanta, GA; sisters Linda (Charles) Fox, Alisa Thompson, Barbara Thompson, Kristie Thompson all of Oxford, MS, Tammie (Chris) Hairston of Taylor, MS, Vickey Thompson of Fayetteville, GA and Earlene Thompson of Bartlett, TN; brothers, Leon Thompson, Roy Thompson both of Oxford, MS, Neal Thompson of Abbeville, MS, Marcus Thompson of Southaven, MS and James Nelson Thompson of Arlington, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Susie Hewlett Thompson and two grandchildren, K'Shawn Pettis and Shawn Pettis III.
