William David “Bill” Jones of Independence, MO passed away on October 11, 2021. Bill was born August 15, 1936, in Elyria, OH to William D. Jones, Sr. and Vera Strohl Jones. He moved to Independence in 1974 and was an optician in the Kansas City area working for Gerry Optical and John's Optical Shop. He was married to his wife, Judith (Judy) for 46 years. Bill was a long-time member of the Stone Church Community of Christ congregation. All of Bill's friends and acquaintances knew he was a rabid Ohio State football fan and was cranky when they lost. He had a life-long love of cars, especially muscle cars of the 1950s and owned several over the years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Florence Jones Roacher. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Dr. Kathryn Jones and her husband, Dr. Brian Washburn, of Tallahassee, FL. There will be a family remembrance at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stone Church Endowment Fund or The Independence Animal Shelter would be very much appreciated.
