Joan D. Fanslow, 68, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her home. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 10, 1953, she was the daughter of Norman and Shirley (nee Boyden) Soucie. Her early life was spent in Omaha, where she earned her nursing degree at the Bishop Clarkson Hospital Nursing Program. On September 22, 1990 in Wilmette, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Lee Fanslow. Following marriage, they continued to reside in Barrington for 22 years. Joan worked as a registered nurse for Evanston Hospital (North Shore University Health System). She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Barrington. She loved dogs, nature, flowers, reading home magazines and doing jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed hiking, spending time in her backyard with her dogs, traveling and seeing national parks. She especially loved spending time with her close friends and family. Joan is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Mary Fanslow and Brooke (Michael Parr) Fanslow; and siblings, Gail (Chuck) Chase and Leslie Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jeffrey Soucie. The family would like to thank Doctors Alan Smookler, Gustavo Rodriguez and Morris Kharasch, along with Registered Nurse Kathy Semisch, for their care and compassion during this time. Services for Joan will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 10AM at German Settlement Church on Church Road and Highway D in Spring Prairie, Wisconsin. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 16 from 2 until 6PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home.
