Sylvia Joyce Whitten, 85, passed away October 13th in Lakeland, Florida. She was born August 14, 1936 in Lacoochee, Florida to Henry & Artie (O'Berry) Mathis. Sylvia was Baptist by faith. She worked for the Hernando County School Board as a Bus Driver for 26 years and was a part owner of Project Oil for 9 years. She also was bookkeeper/Assistant Office Manager for Howes Groves in Dade City. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jesse "Jake" Whitten and her sister, Marie Carpenter. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Dianne "Dee Dee" Lilly of Lakeland, Florida, her grandson, Stephen Lilly, Jr. also of Lakeland and several nieces and nephews and extended family.Obituary
