<p>Rena Mae Sims Auten, 90, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Brian Center. She was born November 14, 1930 in Rutherford County, a daughter of the late William Sidney Sims and Eva Mae Guffey Sims. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Eugene Auten, son, Donald Eugene Auten, daughter, Edith Auten Sipes and grandson, Stephen Auten.</p> <p>Rena had formerly worked at Cannon Mills for 12 years and at Terry Products for 37 years. She was the last of 13 brothers and sisters. She was a member of Solid Rock Worship Center. Rena loved cooking and baking cakes. She prided herself on cooking for anyone and everyone that needed food.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Whitley&rsquo;s Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Wooldridge and Rev. Raymond Davis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at Whitley&rsquo;s from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service.</p> <p>Rena is survived by her children, Betty Clay Fink (Boyce), Paul David Auten (Linda), Clyde W.
