Stanley Kent Melton died on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Yazoo Rehabilitation Center. He was 67. A native and lifelong resident of Yazoo City and born on February 18, 1954, he was the son of the late Marvin Ray Melton and Katherine Kirk Melton. Mr. Melton lived in Yazoo City all his life. He attended Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas where he studied jewelry design. He was a man of many skills and trades – from jeweler to mechanic to a self-taught musician known for playing the mandolin. He was a longtime member of Center Ridge Baptist Church where he enjoyed Sunday school. Stanley was a beloved brother to his siblings and had a unique and witty sense of humor. He was an avid reader, loved music, and had a kind and loving heart. He is survived by his brothers: Marvin Melton, Jr. (Rozanne) of Rutledge, TN; Steve Melton, of Eden, MS; and Pat Melton (Diane), of Yazoo City; nieces and nephews: Marvin Melton, III, Cynthia Mankowski, Jason Melton, Jesse Melton (Kelly), and Joscelyn Allen; and a host of other relatives. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15 at Center Ridge Baptist Church, 3150 Center Ridge Rd, Yazoo City with Rev. Mark Bullock officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday until the hour of the service at the church.
