Richard Thomas Edstrom, 74, of Edgerton, passed away October, 12, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm October 22, 2021 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30 pm October 22, 2021 also at the funeral home with Military Honors. Inurnment at a future date. Richard was born November 29, 1946 in Mora, Minnesota to Richard and Joy Edstrom. He grew up in Louisburg, KS and graduated from Uniontown High School (Uniontown, KS) in 1964. He joined the Army and served in Vietnam 1966 to 1967. Richard married Laurel Mae Kurtz on December 7, 1968 at the Methodist Church in Wellsville, KS. He worked in maintenance at the General Motors Plant in Fairfax, KS for 30 years. Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed playing cards at the casino as well as restoring cars and tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Eddie Edstrom and Joy Lorraine Edstrom. He is survived by his wife Laurel of the home; sons: Timothy Bryan (Angela) Edstrom, Gardner, KS and Christopher Robin (Angie) Edstrom, Spring Hill, KS; sisters: Melody Skeens, Louisburg, KS and Anita Brown, Drexel, MO; grandchildren: Madisen (Gabe) Orrico, Connor (Lexie) Edstrom, Dylan Edstrom and Ryann Edstrom. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends
