Irene Florence Rains
<p>Irene Florence Rains (Beauchamp) </p><p>January 11, 1924 – September 26, 2021</p><p><br></p><p>It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who resided in the Westlock area until 2017 when she moved to Calgary to be closer to family. </p><p><br></p><p>Irene suffered a broken pelvis after a fall on September 8 and passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Agecare Glenmore, Calgary, AB at the age of 97 ¾ years.</p><p><br></p><p>Irene is survived by her sister, Alice Leuzinger, of Spruce Grove, AB; daughters, Pat (George) McGuinness, Calgary and Eileen (Ron) Evans, Leduc; daughters-in-law, Edie Rains, Sherwood Park, and Alice Rains, Leduc; grandchildren, Dione (Doug Reti), David and Debbie (Brad Chupka) McGuinness, Kyle (Lisa) and Kent (Gwen) Evans, Rhonda and Brent (Brittany) Rains, and Sheena (Garret Desjardine) and Ryan (Lynn); 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.</p><p>She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Rains, on June 28, 1997; sons, Marvin and Daniel; grandson, Mark; her parents and 6 siblings.</p><p><br></p><p>Irene’s ashes will be spread on Jesse’s grave at Dungannon Cemetery and a Celebration of Irene's Life held at a later date.</p><p><br></p><p>Irene’s long life can be attributed to her hard work in the Westlock area, farming at Halach for 20 years, operating the concession at the Jarvis Auction Mart for 7 years, cashier at Lindahl Grocery Store for 6 years and Holyk Drugs for 12 years to name a few.</p><p><br></p><p>Irene loved to play crib and tile rummy and knit until her eyesight prevented those hobbies. Irene’s love of her family was demonstrated by the many family gatherings she hosted and her table was always set for the relatives and friends. Her cooking was so enjoyed by us.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to thank all staff at Agecare Glenmore, Calgary, AB, a long term care facility, for their enduring care and compassion for our mom for the last 2 ½ years.
