Helen Troy King Dear, 87, entered into eternal rest on October 6, 2021. She was the widow of late Marsene Dear, Sr. Mrs. Dear was born in Greenville, North Carolina on August 8, 1934, daughter of the late James Arthur King and the late Martha Henryhan Hawkins. After graduating high school, she moved to New Haven, CT where she married and started a family. Mrs. Dear challenged herself by advancing her education. She majored in Early Childhood Education and graduated from South Central Community College, University of Massachusetts, Eastern Connecticut State University, and received her Sixth Year Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Dear was a devoted educator for New Haven Board of Education for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. Helen was a devoted Christian and a proud member of Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1961. She was dedicated to her faith and church where she served in many compacities. Helen enjoyed praying with her prayer group every Tuesday. Mrs. Dear loved her church and her church family. Helen enjoyed reading, singing, cooking, watching her favorite television shows, completing crossword puzzles, and giving back to charities, community, and loved ones.
