<p><strong>Richard E. Lloyd, age 89 of Newark, Delaware passed away at his residence on October 10th, 2021.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Born on May 28th,1932 in Wilmington to the late Ralph and Catherine Lloyd (nee Dougherty), Richard was a lifelong Delawarean and a 1950 graduate of Alexis I. Dupont High School.&nbsp; After graduating high school, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served proudly and honorably as a Navy Corpsman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.&nbsp; Richard was known as a fierce patriot who loved his country, the Navy and the Marine Corps, which he so proudly and honorably served.</strong></p> <p><strong>After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Richard returned to Delaware and made a 20 plus year career with DuPont where he was known by his coworkers as &ldquo;Dick Lloyd&rdquo;. After his retirement from DuPont he took a job as a State Park Ranger at Brandywine Creek State Park, a job which he loved dearly.</strong></p> <p><strong>In addition to being a fierce patriot, Richard was a Dallas Cowboys fan who could always be found outside landscaping, doing yard work, painting and doing art work, keeping active or spending time with his family whom he loved very much.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his first ex-wife and the mother of his four children Barbara Lloyd; his sister, Mary Carey; sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Lloyd; and his lifelong friend, Jimmy Cuomo.</strong></p> <p><strong>Richard is survived by his children, Meghan Lloyd of Newark; Ryan Lloyd and his wife, Jordan of Bear; Nathan Lloyd and his partner, Kaitlyn of Charleston,SC; Brendan Lloyd of Newark;&nbsp;Mark Lloyd and his wife, Medea of Middletown; Karen Lloyd and her husband, Brad of Wilmington; Cindy Harder and her husband, Doug of Newark; and Richie Lloyd and his wife, Shelly of Newark.&nbsp;&nbsp; Not to mention all the of his possible children &ldquo;overseas&rdquo;.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Richard also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Mark, Chris, Lauren, Daniel, Mandy, Krista, Kinsley, Declan, and soon to be Asher; and many great grand-children.&nbsp; His twin brother, Ralph Lloyd and his wife, Evelyn of Galveston, TX; brother, Joe Lloyd of Middletown; mother to his youngest four children and ex-wife, Patti Igo; and lifelong friend, Nelson Cammock.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>The family will receive friends and guests on Monday October 18th, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Doherty Funeral Home in Pike Creek or on Tuesday October 19th, 2021 from 10:30-11:30am at the St. Anthony of Padua Church located at 901 N. Dupont Street, Wilmington.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday October 19th, 2021 at 11:30am with burial to follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery where Richard will receive full Military Honors.</strong></p> <p><strong>In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in his honor to the Wounder Warrior Project.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Richard E. Lloyd, age 89 of Newark, Delaware passed away at his residence on October 10th, 2021.
