Mary Lou Barrett Hardy Obituary

SUMTER – Mary Lou Barrett Hardy, 77, affectionately known as “MaeMae”, widow of William Emory Hardy, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at her home. Born December 1, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late James Frederick Barrett and the late Posie Roberts Barrett. She was a member of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church. She is survived by her great niece, Tiffany Barrett DuBose (Chris) of Sumter; a great-great niece, Peyton Whitaker; a great-great nephew, Grayden DuBose; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Barrett and David Richard Barrett. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Payne officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Barrett, Jacob Barrett, Zach Barrett, James Barrett, Stacy Barrett and Hunter Rodriguez. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 2875 Danville Lane, Sumter.
