Janetta Christine Orton, age 61, of Boone, died on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Boone County Hospital. Cremation rites have taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Janetta was born in Ames on February 14, 1960, the daughter of Guy and Doris (Brown) DeHoet. She grew up in Cambridge, graduating from Ballard High School in 1978. Janetta was united in marriage with Manuel Orton on December 9, 2006 in Eldora. Janetta worked as a Patient Representative Specialist for nearly 10 years at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, until 2008 when health complications led to her early retirement. Janetta loved her family, always treating her nieces and nephews like her own children. She was involved in their lives as much as possible. She helped with childcare for her nieces and nephews, enjoyed binging television shows and movies (especially Harry Potter), traveling to visit them and their families and shopping trips! Faith directed Janetta’s life. She enjoyed attending church with her family and listening to Southern Gospel music. Besides listening to music, she also enjoyed singing. She was a member of the Sweet Adaline’s. Janetta was involved in theater at the Ankeny Community Theater and Story Theater Company in Ames. Janetta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Manuel in 2019; brother, Baby Guy DeHoet; and nephew, Ted Jr. She is survived by her brothers, Richard (Marlene) DeHoet and Jim (Peg) DeHoet; sister, Dianna (Ken) Mason; 6 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews; and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.
