Cynthia "Cindi" Elizabeth Paus-Jordan

LANCASTER–Cynthia “Cindi” Elizabeth Paus-Jordan, 74, passed away on October 9, 2021, at the Genesis Country Village nursing facility in Lancaster, where she had been a resident for the past two years, after a period of declining health. She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 5, 1947, the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn Paus. She was later adopted by her mother’s second husband, Leonard Jordan. Cynthia received her schooling in Connecticut and Burlington, Vermont, having returned to Connecticut after her graduation in 1967. For many years she worked in secretarial roles for various companies, including Swank, Inc. clothing accessories of Norwalk, Connecticut, and Great Northern Paper of Manhattan and Stamford, Connecticut. A special person in her life at this time was John “Jack” Anderson, Jr., whom she met in 1970 and who passed away from Multiple Sclerosis in 1978. After that time, Cynthia returned to Burlington and worked for IBM, relocating to Tampa, Florida in the late 1980s to work in a clerical position for a Methodist organization, helping set up its computer systems. In 1998 she relocated to be close to her family in northern New Hampshire, living for many years in Berlin. She had a lifelong passion for art and music, having become known for her pencil sketches and copper pictures. A talented musician, she learned the Hammond organ when she was 10 and took part in school and church choirs. She was a fan of science fiction films and books by J.R.R. Tolkien. Another passion were her cats over the years, whom she loved as children. Religion played an important part in her life. She was first baptized as a Baptist in 1962 in Cheshire, Connecticut, and later regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Burlington when her family moved there in the mid-1960s. In recent years she became a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Berlin, where she made many friends. Her closest friend she met through the church was Joseph “Joe” Briere, who remained her dearest friend. Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two siblings, Charles Jordan and wife Donna of Clarksville, and Scotia Jordan of Burlington, Vermont. She is also survived by her nephew Thomas Jordan of Clarksville. A graveside service was held on Tuesday at noon at the Perry Cemetery in Clarksville.
