A funeral Mass for Georgia Huschka, 89, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation for Georgia will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p.m. Georgia passed away October 11, 2021 at her home in Dickinson. Georgia Catherine was born March 31, 1932 in Dickinson, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Jablonsky) Sadowsky. Growing up on the farm north of Dickinson, she attended Sts. Peter and Paul School in New Hradec through the eighth grade, then Model High School in Dickinson. Georgia continued her education at St. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck and was employed at St. Alexius for one year as night supervisor of pediatrics. She then moved to Dickinson where she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for two years. On August 29, 1955, Georgia married Thomas Huschka at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. The couple moved to Chicago for Thomas’s job and Georgia was a homemaker and mother of five children, Curtis, Dale, Dean, Kelly and Michele. The family moved back to Dickinson in 1968. Georgia became an employee of St. Luke’s Nursing Home, where she offered her services for 26 years before retiring in 1994. She was also active in her church as rosary leader and Christian Mothers. Georgia was known for her cooking and baking skills. No one ever left her house hungry. Some of her specialties included caramel rolls, kolaches, borscht soup, salsa, meatballs, blueberry coffee cake, and brownies with her special chocolate frosting. Georgia could heal any ailment with a cup of her homemade chicken noodle soup and rolhicky. She enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking for everyone especially around the holidays. Georgia loved being out in the sun. In the summer months you would find her outside tending to the beautiful garden her and Tom planted every year. Georgia was an avid sports fan. She always had a Chicago Cubs game on as she cooked in the kitchen or had the radio on listening to local high school football or basketball. Georgia will be remembered for making her home extra special on the holidays with her many decorations and all of her delicious baked goods. Georgia was special to many people and loved my many - especially her great grandchildren who she adored. She will live on through the many beautiful holiday traditions that she has passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Georgia is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Michele (Terry) Keithley of Dickinson; sons, Curtis Huschka of Dickinson, Dale (Tammy) Huschka of Melbourne, FL, Dean Huschka of Bismarck, ND; 7 grandchildren, Craig (Maria Thom) Huschka, Kelly (Dan) Gillen, Kristy (Rhett) Halverson, Amber (Ross) Huschka Stiegemeier, Mark (Kara) Keithley, Hannah (Scott) Drga, and Stefanie Huschka; and 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Sadowsky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary; daughter, Kelly Ann Huschka; brothers, William Sadowsky, Alfred Sadowsky and Raymond Sadowsky; sister, Bertha Bahley.
