French, Neil Ernest April 4 1940 - October 10 2021 Neil Ernest French (Frenchy), age 81, passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s hospital in Hamilton. Loving husband to Donna French (Field) for 57 years. Loving father to Nancy Wilson (Kevin) of Kitchener and Barbara Curran (Bob) of Wall, New Jersey. Grandpa to Maggie Curran, Robby Curran and Liam Wilson. Brother to Helen and the late Pierre Beaudry. Brother-in-law to the late Dorothy and the late Russell Lishman, survived by sisters-in-law Diane Winger (Doug), Deanie Kramer (Bob), and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario and Quebec. Will be remembered by special neighbours and friends on the Jersey Shore. Neil was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Elgin and Dorcas French. He came to Hamilton in the 1960s with his friends Bob, Ivan & Edith. He had a lifelong interest in sports cars and restored his own candy apple red 1960 TR3. He proudly donated blood almost 100 times. Thank you to PSW’s Valerie and Susan for their outstanding home care. Thank you to Dr. Alton, Dr Mallah, all the nurses, OT Jennifer, dietitian Sharon, SW Launi and all staff at St Joe’s complex care unit for their good care, compassion and kindness. Thank you to Pastor Koehler for his many visits with Neil at home before Covid and while in hospital. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 10-11am followed by a chapel service at 11am. Burial to take place at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, anyone wishing to attend the visitation or service must RSVP either on the website at www.dermodys.com or by calling 905-388-4141. Everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Those who wish to make a donation in Neil’s memory may donate to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1054 Upper Sherman, Hamilton, Ontario L8V 3N5, to the Canadian Red Cross (www.redcross.ca/donate), or to the charity of your choice.
