Theadore Thomas "Ted" Lauchner Vinita, Oklahoma Obituary

Theadore Thomas "Ted" Lauchner

Theadore Thomas “Ted” Lauchner, age 42, of Vinita passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 11, 2021. He is free from the pain and suffering of his 16-month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born November 2, 1978. Ted is the son of Carl Lauchner of Vinita and Marcy Hogan of Moore. He grew up in Vinita and graduated from Vinita High School. He was a member of Holy Ghost Church in Vinita. Ted was a fun-loving boy, and man. He had an infectious laugh and loveable smirk when he had played a joke on someone or told a funny story. He was affectionate and gave bear hugs which could lift you off the floor. He loved spending time with friends and in recent years one of his favorite pastimes was having bonfires and camping. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a youth, participated in the Soapbox Derbies but loved the camping trips the most. In recent years he learned to crochet and was quite proud to make Afghans for his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed Auto Mechanics and spent lots of time working on his vehicles and helping his friends with their vehicles as well. He had a generous and giving nature, willing to do anything to help others. Family and friends were very important to Ted. He was devoted to all his family but especially nieces and nephews. The joy of his life came with the birth of his daughter Lillianna Marie Lauchner in 2013. He was overjoyed to travel to AZ in July to visit her in spite of his chemo treatments and obviously declining condition. Ted joined the US Army in 1999 and served for 4 years with an Honorable Discharge in 2003. He spent one year in South Korea, six months at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and was part of the Invasion of Iraq in 2003. He was quite proud of his Service and status as a Veteran. His life was unsettled after his discharge from the Army, however, with the burden of PTSD from his combat experience. He lived in several different states during those trying years. He was classified as a Disabled Veteran and received services from the VA which allowed him to settle back in Vinita and resume his life in a productive way. He graduated from Tulsa Welding School in 2019. He has worked with his father at Lauchner Lawn Care for the past 5 years. Surviving is his daughter Lillianna Marie Lauchner of Phoenix, Az. Other survivors include father and stepmother Carl and Brenda Lauchner of Vinita as well as mother and stepfather Marcy and Jim Hogan of Moore, OK. He is also survived by siblings: Ray Lauchner and Laura of Moore OK: Bev Lauchner and Mat Dussault of Eugene, OR; Annie Lingo and James of Moore, OK; Megan Lauchner and fiancé Victor Corona of Los Angeles, CA; stepsister Amy Humphrey and John of Vinita; stepbrother Travis Hogan and Rachael of Aurora, CO and his “adopted” brother LaVaughn Doody-Moore of Joplin, MO. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He leaves behind very special friends: Amanda Devore and her son Keith, Adam “Opie” Thrun, Reagan Porter and Jourdan Polson, all of Vinita. The visitation and time of sharing begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, and will end at 8:00 p.m., at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita, Robert Sanders will be sharing words of encouragement. The graveside service and military rites will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, Rev. M. E. Cashen, will officiate. Military Rites will be performed by the Ft. Sill Honors Team. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
