Shirley Steffen

Shirley was born in Moorhead, Minnesota, on January 7, 1954, to Ed and Maxine Schmidt. She passed away on October 4, 2021, after a 15-month battle with lung, bladder, kidney, liver, and finally, brain cancer. She died peacefully at Providence Centralia Hospital while receiving palliative care, with family at her side. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed arts, crafts, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved calling her mother every day, until she was unable to because of her weakness from the long battle with cancer. We will miss her every day. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her mother, two sons, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five nephews, five nieces, and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. Shirley will be cremated, with a memorial service at a date to be determined. Shirley expressed her desire to have her ashes spread with her husband’s. Their ashes will be scattered at a future date with a small ceremony and celebration. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
