Mrs. Josephine Capel, 95, of 17 Caroline Street passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at St Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. She was born on December 27, 1925 to Marco Zumbolo and Theresa Zumbolo of Amsterdam. She attended local schools graduating from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Peter Capel Jr. on April 29, 1951. They remained lovingly married until his passing in 2002. Josephine was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by five sons; Gary (Nancy) Capel of Amsterdam, Richard Capel of Amsterdam, Joseph (Betsy) Capel of Amsterdam Peter Capel of Woodstock, GA, and John Capel (Marcy) of Amsterdam and daughter Kathleen (Larry) Zanella of Amsterdam. She has 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by four brothers, four sisters, and daughter in law Kathy Arn Capel. A private Mass of Christian Burial for family will take place on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis. At the request of the deceased there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.Obituary
