Hollis Leland Keene

<p>Hollis Leland Keene, age 74, passed away on October 11, 2021, after a courageous battle with amyloidosis.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA and a native of Plant City, FL.&nbsp; He attended Plant City High School and the University of Alabama where he was member of the track and field team.&nbsp; After retiring from his career as a petroleum engineer, he pursued his life&rsquo;s passion of raising and breeding cattle.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Rev. Luther Barber Keene,&nbsp; brother, LaRue Keene, and sister, Wava Joyce Keene.&nbsp;</p> <p>He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Niel Keene, and daughters, Holly Foret and husband Nik, and Shannon Landry and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Sophie Landry, Nicholas Landry, Jackson Foret and Hayes Foret; brothers, LaRoyce Keene (Debby) and Travis Keene (Julie); sisters, Freida Poole, Yolanda Joyner (Richard), Darlene Welch, and Cheryl Ham (Allen), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;</p> <p>The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and all family and friends for their prayers and support.&nbsp;</p> <p>Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home on October 13, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with funeral services to follow on October 16, 2021, at Salem Baptist Purity Church in Salem, FL.&nbsp; Visitation will begin at 11:00am followed by the service at noon.&nbsp;</p> <p>Pallbearers will be LaRoyce Keene, Richard Joyner, Wesley Joyner, Clay Joyner, Marlon Keene, Luke Keene, Freddie Poole, Nik Foret, Kevin Landry and Nicholas Landry.&nbsp;</p> <p>Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at&nbsp;www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.</p>
