Elaine C. Peterson age 93 loving wife of the late Harry W. Peterson, dear mother of Dennis (Lurana), Rodney (Cheryl),Wayne (Kathy),Lois (Al), Barbara (Lee) and Charlyn (Hugo), dear grandmother of Dan, Jorie, Jenny, Sarah, Stacey (Matt), Laura,Matt, Jonna (Nat), Sean (Andy), Julie (Randy) and Alan (Sara), great grandmother of Caden, Kayla,Sam, Justis, Michael, Benjamin, Delany and Ainsley. Elaine Caroline Lind was born October 3rd, 1922 to Karl and Jennie Lind in the city of Chicago. She grew up in the Austin neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. She was active in the Lutheran Church as a young person and joined her parents in activities that were held at a Swedish Social Club which allowed Swedish immigrants to gather to eat, dance and play Bunco and enjoy each other's company.

Elaine met and married Harry Peterson in 1941 and they were married in early 1942. They raised 6 children: 3 boys and 3 girls in Villa Park, Illinois. The boys were Dennis, Rodney, and Wayne. The girls were Lois, Barbara, and Charlyn.

Dennis married LuranaRoselli, who live in West Chicago, and have a daughter, Jonna and a son, Sean. Sean married Andi and they have a daughter, Delaney, 5 years old, a son Benjamin, 2 years old, and a new born Ainsley.

Rodney married CherriTroxel, who live in West Chicago, and have a son, Dan and a daughter, Jorie. Jorie has two sons: Michael and Justus.Dan lives in North Carolina and Jorie lives in Florida.

Wayne married Kathy Thorn andthey have a daughter,Laura and a son, Matt. They live in Madison, Wisconsin.Laura is a nurse at University Hospital. Matt is studying at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Lois married Al Grangeras and they have two daughters, Julie and Stacey and a son, Alan. Julie married Randy Matson. Stacey married Matt Richards and have 3 children: Caden, Kayla, and Sam. Alan married Sara. Lois and Al live in Compton, Illinois.Stacey and Matt live in Swisher, Iowa. Alan and Sara live in Downers Grove, Illinois .

Barbara married Lee Connor and they have two daughters, Sarah and Jenny. They live in Georgia. Sarah lives in Virginia, and Jenny is in the Navy and stationed in Japan.

Charlyn married Hugo Bernal. They lived in West Hollywood, California and came to Illinois so Charlyn and Hugo could provide additional care for Elaine. Currently, they reside in Dekalb, Illinois.

Harry and Elaine used to vacation in Iron River, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where Harry's parents (Ebba and Fridolph Peterson, also known as Pete) had a summer cabin on Sunset Lake. All the kids used to look forward to going to "Michigan" for vacations. Even today, the tradition continues when everyone gathers around the lake for special holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.

Harry passed away in October, 1991 after 49 years of marriage. It was a big loss for Elaine. He died unexpectedly from heart failure. Elaine had been living by herself since Harry's passing. Currently, Elaine resided in the Dekalb County Nursing facility. Elaine passed away on April 16th, 2016 after a long bout with dementia and Parkinson's Disease. She was 93 years old.
