George G. Scoggins Obituary

Lincoln - George G. Scoggins, 81, of Old River Road, died Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket after a brief illness.  He was the beloved husband of Michele (Jarvis) Scoggins.  Mr. & Mrs. Scoggins had recently celebrated their forty-third wedding anniversary.

Born in Brownsville, Texas, a son of the late Charles G. and Ella R. (Haile) Scoggins, he had lived in Lincoln for the past forty years.

Mr. Scoggins was treasurer at Conrad-Jarvis Corporation, Pawtucket, for forty years.

He was a member of Kirkbrae Country Club, Lincoln, and an avid beach goer, especially to Narragansett Town Beach.  He enjoyed watching his children play sports, and was a volunteer for the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Department.  He enjoyed photography and photographed many Lincoln High School sporting events while his children attended school.  He appreciated listening to all kinds of music and was an avid reader, and loved to tend to his garden and lawn.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during the Vietnam War, and was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church, Albion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, M. Brooke Nelson of Corona, California, and Sara Fathree of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Patrick Scoggins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Matthew Scoggins of Devens, Massachusetts; and six grandchildren.  He was the brother of the late Ronnie Haile and Connie Sutton.

His funeral will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 191 School Street, Albion.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Albion.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 2990 S.
