Thelma Maria Ruttle

Long-time and well-loved resident of Anchorage, Alaska Thelma Maria Medici-Ruttle passed away peacefully on Sunday October 10, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Wasilla surrounded by family and loved ones. Thelma lived a full life. She was born in Lucca Italy to Elide Medici and Agostino Medici on April 25, 1933. She and her family endured WWII. After the war, her parents immigrated to America. Thelma joined them a few years later arriving via the port of Ellis Island in New York in 1951. She then joined her family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She became an American citizen on November 11, 1954. There Thelma met the love of her life, Robert Charles Ruttle. The two were joined in marriage on August 10, 1957. In 1965 they decided to move their family to Anchorage Alaska. Thelma worked 37 years at Brown Jug. She was a member of a dart team at Carpentiers Lounge that took state two times. There she enjoyed dancing, playing darts and socializing with her friends. Thelma’s passion was cooking and gardening. She was known to make amazing Italian food and nobody could top her lasagna. If you have ever visited her home you never left hungry. On holidays her home was always open to friends who had no place to go. Thelma was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother and husband. Thelma is survived by her 5 childeren and their spouses; Gloria Grizzle & Jason, Thomas Ruttle & Robin, Linda Helms & Eric, Helen De Alba & Rick, Billie Jo Keeler & Brett, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, Adopted daughter DeAnna Klemash-Ercolani . Sister-n-law Pierra Medici, and many nieces and nephews. Thelma was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew her. The family asks in lieu of flowers to please donate to the Valley Hospice Resources, 1150 S. Colony Way, Palmer, AK 99654 in honor of Thelma Ruttle. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church located at 16300 Damian Lane Eagle River, Alaska 99577 on Saturday October 30th, at 10:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at Carpentier’s Lounge, 335 Bonaface Parkway, Anchorage, AK.
