Lana Hughes, 73, a resident of Hancock passed away on Saturday October 9, 2021 at Canal View – Houghton County.

She was born on November 12, 1947 in Milwaukee to Alfred and Margaret (Hull) Limback. She attended high school at West Division High School and graduated with the Class of 1965.

On July 3, 1965, she was united in marriage to James E. Hughes at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI.

Lana worked in the Milwaukee side by side with her husband Jim at the two restaurants they owned. In 1978 she and Jim moved up to Calumet where they opened Jim’s Pizza and retired in 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Margaret Limback, her son James (Joey) Hughes and her brother and sister in-law Carl and Susan Limback. Also preceding her in death her son in-law Kevin Kangas and nephew Timothy James Hughes.

She is survived by:

Her daughters: Shelly Hughes of Calumet

LeeAnn Kangas of Hancock

granddaughter: Andrea (Philip) Hainault of Mohawk and Lana’s great granddaughters Aurora, Charlotte and Eleanor.

nephew: Daniel (Jane) Limback of Milwaukee and their daughter Jamie Ann.

And several cousins

A visitation service will be held Monday October 18th from 5pm-7pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
