Lorene A. Hicks, 92, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on October 10, 2021. Lorene was born on February 7, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri and the oldest child of Charles and Alice Alford. She had 2 younger brothers. She grew up in the same neighborhood and attended William Chrisman High School with the love of her life, Richard Hicks. They later married and had 2 children. Lorene loved her family, arts and crafts and traveling. She was proud to say she was in love and married to her best friend for 76 years! She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Alice Alford, her brother Harold Alford, brother Wilbur Alford and her beloved son, Mike Hicks Lorene is survived by her husband Richard Hicks, daughter Darline Keck (Tom), daughter in law Vicki Hicks, sister-in-law Michelle Alford, granddaughter Pam Evans (Greg), grandson Jeff Canterbury (Vicki), granddaughter Beth Tinsley (T), grandson Ben Hicks (Heidi), granddaughter Katie Gross (Dan), 11 great grandchildren, 7 great, great grandchildren and 1 great, great, great grandson, “Big Boy” Kyzir and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation to honor Lorene will be held on Thursday, October 14, from 10-11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow, at 11:00 a.m., both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue in Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to City Union Mission, 1100 East 11th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106.
