John Slade

John Henry Slade, Jr., age 86, of Quincy, died Monday, October 11, 2021, at 8:36 am in Blessing Hospital. John was born April 12, 1935 in Quincy, a son of John Henry Sr. and Sarah Isabelle Ferguson Slade. He married Lillian Dorothy Shobe on April 30, 1977 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2008. John enlisted in the United States Navy, from which he retired after 21 years of honorable service. He then took a position at American Cynamid Co. in Palmyra, MO, where he would work for over the next 20 years. In his spare time, John was an avid bowler, and over the years he bowled in leagues at all the lanes in Quincy. Survivors include: his daughter, Mary Ann Slade of Quincy; a sister: Hazel Twaddle of Quincy; three brothers-in-law: Alan (Judy) Shobe of Palmerton, PA; Ed (Peggy) Shobe of Cross, SC; and Mike (Pam) Shobe of SC; a sister-in-law, Georgia Anne Shobe of Cross, SC; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bernie. In addition to his wife, Lillian, John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Alexander Slade; and three sisters: Patricia Carol Slade, Mary Isabelle Slade Bockenfeld, and Sarah "Peggy" Slade Boyd.
