David Wayne Delcambre Obituary

David Wayne Delcambre passed away peacefully with family at his side on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 69.  He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to St. Tammany Parish where he resided for the last 26 years.

David had a passion for cars (especially Mustangs) and motorcycles. He shared this passion with his grandsons and was always teaching, whether it was building and running remote control cars or teaching them how to change the oil in a car.

He had a soft spot for animals. After retiring, he was an avid volunteer for the Northshore Humane Society where he rescued Remi and Molly. He also loved Shelby and rescue dogs, Buck, Rex, and others.  He cared for turtles as well, creating habitats for many over the years in his gardens and backyards.

David loved his family fiercely. He was a caretaker, hard-working, and meticulous in everything that he did.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Constance Carver Delcambre and his father Julius Delcambre. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sheryl LeBlanc Delcambre and two daughters, Kelly Delcambre Stewart, and Leslie Delcambre Doles (Jimmy). David was the proud grandfather of six grandsons, Jacob Delcambre, Gavin Stewart, Riley Stewart, Justin Doles, Cameron Doles, and Carson Doles, and a great granddaughter, Emma Doles. He is also survived by his brother Richard Delcambre (Tambi), nieces and nephews.

David was a retired technician for Folgers Coffee Co. in New Orleans and worked for more than 25 years as a press operator for Deluxe Check Printers. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church in Abita Springs, LA, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life and legacy on Thursday, October 14, 2021 with a visitation to be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by praying the Rosary and a noon Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St, Abita Springs, LA 70420.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Northshore Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Ave, Covington, LA 70433, to honor David’s volunteer service and love for animals.
