Lois F. McConnell Obituary

Lois (Minnie) McConnell of Painted Post, New York, was called home to be with God on Thursday, October 7, 2021.

Minnie is joined in Heaven with her father James Joyner Sr. as well as her grandparents. Minnie is the mother of April (Orrin) Finnefrock and Beth McConnell. She is the sister of Rick (Maria) Joyner, James Joyner Jr., Cindy (Steven) Pitts, and Kelly (Eric) Rose and the loving daughter of Lois Joyner. Minnie also leaves behind (as she would tell you) her “pride and joy”- her granddaughter, Nova. Minnie also has many nieces and nephews, who she loved as if they were her own.

Minnie worked as a teacher's aide in the CPP School District and was presently employed at the CPP High School. Minnie loved her coworkers who quickly became her friends, and she found her passion in helping every student that crossed her path. She always made sure that anyone that came her way left with a smile on their face.

In Minnie’s free time, she loved to go on adventures with her daughter Beth, go shopping with her girls, and spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid animal lover and above all else, loved being a “Grammy” to Nova. Minnie enjoyed spending time with Nova, having dance parties, singing silly songs, going on walks, and watching her learn and grow.

Minnie was nothing short of a bright light in a world that can sometimes feel so dark. She had a laugh that could be picked out of the most crowded rooms - when you heard that giggle, you knew Minnie was near. When Minnie was around, you always felt calm, warm, welcomed, and loved.

In lieu of flowers, Minnie had requested donations of stuffed animals be given to the American Red Cross.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, with calling hours from 10:00 am to12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and service beginning at 4:00 pm. A celebration of life to follow immediately at The Big Flats Legion, 45 Olcott Rd. S., Big Flats.
