Robert M. Johnson

Robert M. Johnson, 75, of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Wielechowski) Johnson for 50 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Walter and Yvette (Goudreau) Johnson, he was a longtime New Britain resident and a parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St Jerome Church. Robert honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from the State of CT, Department of Public Health and Addiction Services in 2008, after many years of employment. He enjoyed spending time fishing, tying trout flies, flower gardening and listening to music. Along with his wife, he leaves his two children, Kimberley Hume and her husband William of Princeton, MA and David Johnson and his wife Victoria of Berlin, and five grandchildren, Calvin, Abigail, Elyssa, Hayden and Vanessa. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Kathleen Johnson of Enfield, his niece Kelley Pellegrini and her husband Christopher and their family of Enfield, and his nephew Brian Johnson and his wife Lisa and their family of Oakdale. He was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey Johnson. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 14th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. His funeral service will begin on Friday, October 15th, at 9:00 a.m. at Burritt Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Jerome. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
