Susan Kay Thiry, age 75, of Meads Creek Road in Painted Post, NY died Friday, October 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born on August 27, 1946 in Corning to Francis and Mildred (Cummings) Ennis. She married the love of her life, Francis Thiry on November 29, 1975 and was preceded in death by him in 1997. She was a graduate of East High School and Continental beauty school. She was a hairdresser for over 50 years. She enjoyed listening to her scanner and relaying the information to her dear friend, Emily Northrup. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and most importantly, her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by five daughters: Shannon (John) Rafferty of Pulaski, TN, Lorraine Thiry of Clay, NY, Maureen (Camden) Ripley of Campbell, NY, Joan Thiry of Painted Post, NY, and Kathleen Thiry of Painted Post, NY; grandchildren, Rebecca Bliss of Horseheads, NY, Samantha Woodworth of Newfield, NY, and Lillianna Ripley; a great grandson, Hayden; great granddaughters, Natalee and Raegan; several nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her granddaughter, Sophia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 25th at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning with Father Matthew Jones officiating. Following the Mass, there will be a celebration of Sue's life held at the East Campbell Fire Hall on Meads Creek Road in Painted Post from 5 – 7 PM. Susan's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
