<p>DONALD ROSS JORDAN, passed away, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, unexpectedly at his home.&nbsp; Born January 28, 1945, in Hanover, PA, he was a life-long resident of Westminster; he was the son of the late Joshua Leland Jordan and Margaret Josephine Jordan, nee Beggs; preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lovelace Jordan; he is survived by brother, Richard I. Jordan of Westminster; son John and daughter-in-law Megan, and grandson Ian of Wilmington, NC; and son David and daughter-in-law Jaime of Mt. Airy, grandchildren William, Joshua and Autumn Marie of Mt. Airy, a nephew, and several cousins.</p> <p>Mr. Jordan graduated 1963 from Westminster High School; attended Catonsville and Carroll Community Colleges. After high school was employed by Aircraft Armaments in Cockeysville as a service rep in the Electronics Parts Service Group. Next as office manager for Pow-R-Matic Inc. in Finksburg; then as a police officer in Sykesville; from 1970-1985 as office manager for the Goodyear Retread Plant in Westminster.&nbsp; In 1989 became part-owner of Alarm Pro-Tech Systems Inc., a burglar and fire alarm installation company located in Westminster.&nbsp; In 1991 went to work in the 9-1-1 center for Howard County Government, later Howard County Police Department, where he attained the position of master dispatcher.&nbsp; He retired in June 2005. From October 1978&nbsp; to June 2004 he was also employed part-time as an Emergency Communications Technician in the 9-1-1 center for Carroll County Government.&nbsp; He was a member for 26 years and commander for 12 years of the Carroll Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, located in Westminster.&nbsp; Held positions of Director of Public Information and Inter-Agency Plans and Programs Officer at Civil Air Patrol&rsquo;s state headquarters.&nbsp; Received Civil Air Patrol&rsquo;s Squadron Commander of the Year Award for the State of Maryland in 1986, and numerous other awards and decorations, including the Distinguished Service Award, and Meritorious Service Award with Bronze Clasp.&nbsp; He was a past member of The Historical Society of Carroll County, Maryland Historical Society, the National Genealogical Society, and the Clan MacAlister Society USA. A past member of the Society of Octavius and The Augustan Society, both genealogical research societies. He received the Order of the Conqueror from The Augustan Society in recognition of proven descent from William I &ldquo;the Conqueror.&rdquo;&nbsp; Was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Augustan Society from 2001-2009.&nbsp; Past member of the Scottish Genealogical Society in Edinburgh, Scotland, Society of Genealogists in London, The Society of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies in Canterbury, England, and The Ulster Historical &amp; Genealogical Society, Belfast, Northern Ireland.&nbsp; He was an avid traveler, having traveled to all 50 states and several U.S. territories, and 27 countries on four continents.&nbsp; He loved his family history, genealogical research and the history of royal families.&nbsp; Also enjoyed gardening, cooking and crossword puzzles.</p> <p>A private graveside service will be held for him.&nbsp; Arrangements by the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. of Westminster.&nbsp; Online condolences may be offered at www.myersdurborawfh.com.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
