Robert L. Galantucci Esq. Obituary

Robert L. Galantucci, Esq., 76, passed away on Friday October 8, 2021 at his home in Spring Lake, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving family. Bob began his career as an attorney in 1970, when he first became a member of the bar. He clerked for the Honorable Judge Robert Ansell, before serving as Assistant Prosecutor in Bergen County from 1971 to 1973. He then co-founded Galantucci and Patuto in 1973, where he worked until his retirement over 45 years later. Born in Brooklyn, Bob grew up in East Orange, New Jersey where he attended Clifford Scott High School. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1967 and New York Law School in 1970. Throughout his legal career, Bob handled numerous cases that garnered local and national attention, and received commendations from legal outlets, such as the New Jersey Law Journal and Bergen County Legal Services, and from several Italian-American associations and law enforcement organizations. Bob authored legal publications, conducted criminal law seminars for the State and County Bar Associations, and lectured extensively on criminal process and the Fourth Amendment. He was featured on Court TV as a commentator and singled out for recognition in the area of Cross-Examination. Outside of his legal practice, Bob was an active traveler in the U.S. and abroad. He was a regular beachgoer and avid skier into his 70s. A gifted baseball player in high school, Bob was a sports fan throughout his life, and a perennial little league baseball coach as his kids grew up. He became a dedicated Mets fan (after his Brooklyn Dodgers moved out of New York), and was a New Jersey Devils fan and a supporter of all things LSU, where he was an active alumnus for many years. Bob remained engaged in his community and took pride in his contributions to legal education and numerous charity organizations until, and after, his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna (De Bernardis) Galantucci, his sister Anitajean, and his uncle Gabriel Nicola. Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia (nee Kavanagh) Galantucci; son, Robert of Silver Spring Maryland, and his wife Ellen and their children Marshall and Clara; son, Daniel of Manasquan and his wife Ayla; nephew, Ryan of New York, New York; brother-in-law, Charles Kavanagh and his wife, Mary of Brielle; sisters-in-law, Alice Donadio and husband, James of Cedar Grove, and Marie Mercun of Point Pleasant; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting will be on Monday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and on Tuesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road at Rt. 70, Brick Township.
