FALL RIVER… Jose Fernando Raposo Sousa, 67, of Fall River passed away October 7, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

    He was the loving husband of Maria C. (Medeiros) Sousa, to whom he had been married for the past 49 years.

    Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Fernando and Maria L. (Cabral) Sousa. He had moved with his family to the United States in 1971.

    Mr. Sousa had worked for many years in the local construction industry. He was a communicant of Santo Christo Parish and member of the Academica Club. Jose was an avid Benfica fan and enjoyed  spending time with his family.

    Along with his wife, survivors include his children: Michael Sousa and his partner Karen of Fall River, Lisa Correia and her husband Pedro of Fall River and Sandy Berube and her husband Luke of Fall River; his grandchildren: Summer Sousa, Connor Ricardo, Adriana Berube and Katie Berube; 7 sisters, 1 brother; many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Parish, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, from 4 – 8 PM.
